I hear you’re a TERF now, Sir Keir!

That tells you two things:

1. He was considerably more thick than the average man on the street when it came to this (not particularly complex) issue.

2. He's happy to let his principles and policies blow with the breeze.

We still need to get him supporting the Rwanda policy for the full house of lols when the left vote for him and essentially Tory policies (Brexit, weakening trans rights, hopefully anti immigration soon too).

I've just got the Father Ted reference. Heh

yeah but the reference (on this and occam’s other thread) is that being a terf is equivalent to being a racist, so i don’t get why he’s used it

i thought warren had posted it tbh

I’ve never claimed it would be a serious electoral issue.  He’s going to win anyway.  I predicted he would maintain his anti-women stance or fudge it, so am surprised he’s going to tackle it head on.  Perhaps he’s seen the SNP experience.

It would definitely have been an electoral issue. It has completely destroyed the SNP and the tories would have gained significant ground in Scotland if Labour were still pretending to be TRAs there.

Would love to agree with you about it not being a big electoral issue Laz, but it is clearly the aim of the hard right to make it one and has been for some time.

Here is noted feminist and renowned defender of women’s rights *checks notes* Lee Anderson breaking cover:

Hence bad actors trying to capitalise on Sir Keir saying nothing more than ‘it’s not a priority’.

It’s been pointed out to me that this interview was very shortly after 30p Lee had been appointed deputy chair.

This is not some backbench renegade spouting off for triggerati cookies. It’s what will underpin Tory election strategy. And if it’s successful, it won’t end with refugees and the T.

Anyone supporting or enabling (and I include extreme TRAs as well as anti-trans activists and social conservatives in that) this should be ashamed of themselves, but of course (as with brexit) when the shit hits the fan it will all be someone else’s fault.

2bh I just want sensible centrist in power either way - suella and Patel are both mentalists and too far right, but on the flip side I don’t want the blue hair and nose ring brigade dictating my life either (rainbow monkey cock in the library etc).

to me I just want nice classic individualist liberalism where I can politely ignore 99.99999% of the rest of the population.

I don’t want to bring my whole self to work and and want to to have to “be an ally” to a bunch of causes I just don’t give a shit about - what I want is to be left alone to do own thing and I am more than happy to leave you alone to do yours!

gay marriage? A ok in my book.

Trans people? Fine within reason (no cocks around the girls changing room or the rape centre but otherwise fine)

racism - bad - the judge of a person should be their productivity and their productivity alone.

ableism - bad - so long as reasonable adjustment can be made and it’s not some selfish malingerer

having to #bekind? Fux no

think Starmer will be fine - he will have to hold his lefties in check but I think he can. Tories let the rightist headbangers out to play and it fooked everything.

"Labour haven't learned two very important lessons from Brexit.

1. Dismissing the people who disagree with you as bigots isn't the way to win hearts and minds..."

Nor reassure Rosie Duffield from within his own party, already a victim of male on female violence, and recently subject to continued death and rape threats for speaking out about the importance of the privacy, dignity and safety of women.

This speech is valueless and insincere.

"I learned that that approach was counterproductive, eeyore. And I'm not trying to win an election."

My comment was a bit mean. Pleased to see you back but don't spend too much time on here ! I hope life is good.

Preach.

Indeed, but there’s no hate pron in sensible liberalism. The middle is hollowed out and hordes of over privileged white middle class millennials assume the luxury of taking positions to pick on minorities rather than face up to their own authoritarian childishness and fear or imaginary threats.

"the lesson I take from that is that if you’re going to make reforms, you have to carry the public with you"

To me that is the same as saying we can’t make these reforms because the public disagrees with them, i.e. my views did not represent those of the electorate, i.e. I was wrong.

I see your point though and will maybe take this with a pinch of salt.

And not to mention, it's far more serious than a policy. Rosie Duffield was thrown to the wolves for speaking out about the importance of women's privacy, dignity and safety, for speaking out about the male on female violence she suffered.

He is an inadequate leader.

She has been isolated within her party. He didn't support her, neither verbally, nor with sufficient security at party events to keep her safe from harm. She has had to bring in her own resources to ensure her safety at party events.

She is constantly subject to threats of harm and death.
