I don’t understand how a professional footballer can be drunk on a mid-afternoon. I always assumed that becoming a professional footballer was so hard it required complete dedication and focus. Eat, train, rest, play. But when I see players like walker and Rooney etc I wonder how much of it is hard work and how much is just talent.

Rooney isn't a great example, he was all talent and got a bit of a long leash based on that (see also Cantona, Berbatov, Barthez at Man United over the years). His recovery from injury always took longer as a result of his lifestyle (and build), remember SAF saying that more than once.
Imagine K.Walker is the type to put in a lot of work though, he's an absolute freak of a physical specimen.
I also reckon most of them are complete 2-pot screamers, as they rarely do go out drinking.

Having to be around Fraudiola and his "man-management" skillz would drive anyone to day drinking.
