Cracking rugby player in his day.
Shit individual in all other respects.
Lied to his wife and kids, was routinely unfaithful
Lied to his subsequent partner about his HIV status just so he could keep shagging him. Lied that he was taking vitamins when caught taking antivirals. Infected him with HIV.
Andy Goode says:”Imagine a straight man doing what he did, they wouldn’t get another TV gig, ever.” Is that right though?
My honest opinion is this man should not be on TV
I don't care about the affairs but the sexual assault is beyond belief
How do any of his fellow presenters even stand next to him? Would they stand next to a straight man who had done the same?
I don't see why it's different. If itv want diversity that is one thing, but having him is an insult to his victim and ultimately not conducive to diversity
I suggest you ask Russell Brand.
As I understand it the HIV thing was settled without admission of liability so, careful now.
tbh I just think, like most welsh ex rugby players, he is a bit of a ladypart and for that reason alone shouldn't be on tv
The bigger point in the TV context is that he's an absolutely terrible TV presence with very limited opinions (the comparison to Roberts and Warburton is just embarassing).
If you read the respective statements post settlement it is harrowing (particularly the victim one)
That's enough for me to say he shouldn't be on TV
Wasn't part of the dispute whether the other man's HIV diagnosis was prior to their relationship.
I don't think it was quite as reported in the tabloids, we don't really know who was telling the truth.
If it was as reported, why wasn't he prosecuted?
There was a lot at dispute. Thomas says he believed his HIV was 'undetectable' at the relevant time and therefore it was effectively impossible for him to transmit it although he has since conceded he may have been wrong about his status. All in, given no prosecution and no admission of wrongdoing I don't think he should be 'banned' from presenting. Whether he is any good at presenting is another story...
Ah the old I've paid them off with a handy agreement that says I'm not acknowledging liability so I can claim I did nothing wrong even though I was worried enough I had done something wrong to pay a shed load of cash to avoid any court proceedings and being found guilty.
Wtf.
If you have HIV you fooking disclose it to someone you are shagging. End of story.
He's a aunt
Agree with the Pig that GT is not good on telly.
He's a little bit older than me. I am surprised that anyone of that vintage thought it was OK to be bareback riding after about 1987 (assuming that's how it was contracted).
if that's not how it was contracted, I apologise to the internet.
either way going barebacking once your on the poz if the act of an absolute cvnt.*
*per curiam, how do they detect undetectable HIV?
On the TV side he isnt great but i would rather watch him than the wilko/woodwood/dallaglio mutual spaff off
If this was a man on a woman you would never had any of the media stuff about how Thomas was the victim. Even the guardian (usually quite 'on top' of sexual assault allegations etc e.g. with brand recently) had columns dedicated to abusing the victim
The media cover up was an abuse of power in its own right, usually only reserved for politicians and Jimmy saville types. That ended well
Ian Baum is the victim's name
Let's not forget when Thomas is enjoying his TV career, he gave Mr Baum HIV
Not doing a lot for the gay community
I don't know whether he is a good presenter mind, I can't stand to watch him

Quite Sails. Remember Prince Andrew?
