Fao Clergs - probiotics

clergs I just wNted to thank you for your nudge re taking probiotics with antibiotics. I hated the tabs but I suspect probiotics helped the side effects. Today I went back to the doc as I thought the infection hadnt cleared and she said it had and that probiotics good idea for next couple of weeks. I hope to have abother 30 years before having to take them again, but either way, it was good advice. I just got whatever the pharmacist recommended ( doc said she coudnt recommend, too many on market)

and now have become total food nazi re fibre/ greens in cooking

quite liked kefir too though not sure what happens to live bacteria with cooking??

yeay rof!

Hooray! Glad to be helpful, minkie.

Heat can kill probiotics for sure (if you're using fresh miso paste the advice is to use less than boiling water for soup).

My favourite kefir is the Yeo valley spoonable mango and passion fruit smiley

Recommend also kombucha!

yes yeo valley! Although plain unsweetened as am off sugar. Funnily enoigh, Dr m needed antibiotics for s/ thing at same time and I fed him spoonful kefir then he read his tabs leaflet which said dont take with dairy...doh!

I think only a small portion survives to the gut so the more the better (you might prefer coconut or even water kefir if you don't like dairy)

I also take symprove and lactosphere and find both good

fibre is the thing, apparently. Good for me as already a fibre nazi as suffer from constipation otherwise. Come to think of it, this might be why I never get any infections, high fibre diet. Brown rice and wholemeal/ seed3d bread with licked finger mopping up the seeds on the work top. Raspberries on porridge. Try it.
