I was home today when our usual cleaners came round. Ok, just work around me, I'll be reading and writing.
Sort of fine until they came into my office. A couple of beefy Eastern European women. Then it was don'r touch that please. no, leave that etc.
Then one of them approached one of my vintage guitars with what looked a can of industrial spray cleaner and a worn out duster.
Out. They didn't know how much it was worth, they were just doing their cleaning job.
Does anyone else kind of worry about the damage these people could cause?

Rock and Roll. I wonder if Pete Townshend is like this these days.

I can get on with cleaners. Doesn’t bother me. Everyone is the same in my local. There’s cleaners, architects, bricklayers, doctors. All the same in my book. No biggie.

I get on very well with my cleaner, Katya. Over a decade and never a problem.

You see Bentines, if you moved to Wimblelondon your local would be filled with dentists, surgeons, architects and eminent KCs. And they'd all come round for a barbecue during the summer.

Well, it just taught me to put everything valuable away in future. I'm not always here when they come round.

I sacked my cleaners when they spilled a large amount of cleaning fluid on a carpet upstairs and didn't tell me before they left the house. I was downstairs working and didn't find the damage for hours.
The carpet was weeks old. What annoyed me most was that they didn't tell me about the spillage. There was no way they could not have known about it. If they had owned up to it, the damage could have been limited.
I got them to pay for professional cleaning of the carpet. They weren't happy about that.

Yeh i've had this issue. Just employ a full/part-time maid that you can communicate your preferences to. Alternatively stick everything in a safe.

My dad had this problem. I told him "why don't you clean your own house now you live alone you lazy miserable bastard?" He told me he didn't have time for it as he had to keep his chatroom public amused.

I have cleaners because, although I do have the time, I totally and utterly hate cleaning. Anything. Apart from my kitchen.

Top Tip - if you spill carpet cleaner on the carpet just add some dirt and it will look the same as before.

We’ve had the same lady for years. When we moved house she continued to clean for us. I never understand why people seem to have so many issues with cleaners.

Cleaners are worth every penny. You need someone that you can communicate with. I would tell my cleaner no need to dust ornaments etc. Just vacuuming, clean kitchen, bathroom - big jobs- then you needn’t worry about this stuff. Cleaners work too quickly to be dusting valuable items. They should also have insurance for breakages.
