I'm also very pessimistic that we can avoid extremely significant environmental damage/catastrophe in the coming decades, I refer here more to the mentality that is almost willing the end times into being in order to be vindicated.

...I don't want to see 'the end' but the frustration at the lack of control is sending me nuts. Those nations that are genuinely trying are being confounded and negated by the selfish recklessness of others whose actions are driven by greed.

Sincere apologies for projecting such darker ideas onto you then Fluffy, I can't disagree with you there. We're going to need some new ideas and rewiring at a pretty basic level, as those willing to say "I drink your milkshake" are the ones who prosper as things currently stand.
