I don't expect you've watched season 1 of Bridgerton (which seems to be mainly about orla) or Barbie, but q for you:
Do you find a woman more desirable if you think she is considered desirable by other men? Or do you find them more desirable if you are the one to "discover" they are secretly hot (e,g, under their librarianesque glasses)?

If I thought someone was hot/desirable, I don’t ever remember worrying about what other fellas thought

I have seen Bridgerton S1, but not Barbie.
On the question - neutral either way.

If I think they're hot. That's all that matters. Don't care what others think.

So if a woman indicated you were the first person that had said they were beautiful etc,. it wouldn't impact you?
I'd always assumed not, but have noticed a different narrative in series/films recently.

Altho hypothetically… if both women were equally attractive, and one had 2 dozen suitors and the other none, it may influence Plan A vs Plan B.

How do I know what a woman is? You can never tell surely?

How Kaulbach? You'd go for the less competitive target?

More a case of if I’m with someone and spot other men looking at them it puts a spring in my step.

We are all wired v similarly - if you think someone is hot (ie someone you want to have sex with - are biologically interested in breeding with) then you can be assured many other men have had the same thought.

I disagree about being wired similarly. There's a huge variance in what men actually find hot in reality.

I think so… all other factors being equal (which they never are), hence it being a bit hypothetical.

I think, based on own observation, that men are much less swayed by what other men think than vice versa. YMMV.

Thanks everyone for honest observations btw. It's really interesting to hear.

Orwell, you remember in pratchett where nobby nobbs ends up dating tawnee because no1 else has ever had the confidence to ask out somone so objectively hot? This is WAY true in real life.
ps I would rather have a go on angua

I generally go for the Beautiful Mind approach and go after the second most attractive

I have always deeply suspected that TP had a better grip on real life than anyone else, which is why his descriptions of women seemed so real. I'm forever sad I never took the chance I had to meet him in person and say "I love you. You get everything."
PS. I'd probably have a go on angua too.

There is a theory on Gab and among Qanon that Margot robbie and Megan Fox are trans-women.
Just thought I'd share that.

Must be true then.

Ruling myself out of this survey - not cool enough to be a “bloke”. More of a “chap”.

There is no assumed hierarchy in "bloke", CJ. All persons of an XY chromosomal persuasion are invited to comment.

Sorry Orwell, we chaps wouldn’t presume to be blokes. Tbf, not sure I have a preference in any case so not much point asking me!

The woman with whom I felt the most immediate connection, and who I still think about from time to time many years later, i think many men would not have looked twice at. Just one of those things.

Wang and Orwell - if I have never read any Pratchett where should I start?

Small Gods IMO. The first few novels of the Discworld series are a bit shit (worth persisting with though), whereas Small Gods almost works as a standalone when he developed his voice more.
Outside of Discworld, Good Omens is a good entry point.

the first one I read was Mort (book 3 iirc) and it is ace. I only read it to impress Sarah Clarke who was in my english a-level group and was well fit. She did agree to go to the rugby club "ball" with me and would have deffo shagged me after, but I had accidentally pulled her slightly less fit maye the week before and had to go with her. She didnt shag me. Sarah shagged my mate dave under the posts on the first team pitch.

it’s not totally irrelevant, wot other blokes think, but its relevance is only fleeting - momentary - and occasional. on the odd occasion it happens, it’s in the early stages of a relationship - i.e. not at all at 1st and not at all 1ce a relationship is solidified. so 4 the vast maj of the time i just don’t think it’s even in mind
when it is thought about, i think it can b both in a positive way or a neg7ive way possibly at the same time. but the thought is so brief 4 it not 2 b meaningful
i loved diggers, truckers and wings - some of the passages in those were brilliant

incidentally there is a sarah clarke whose official title is the lady usher of the black rod
which makes me smile

Given I made up the name for the purposes of my story, I think the chances are slim that she's the same one

so then either way, she wasn’t the lady usher of wang’s rod
