Bit partial to some Billy Joel at the moment as well: Tell her about it, Uptown Girl, The Longest Time. The favourites, obvs.

You have to judge for yourself, but after Nebraska the money rolled in and he was never the same IMO. It's the tales of small town New Jersey that he's best at.

Nebraska is sublime, but Born in the USA (that came right after Nebraska right?) is a classic for good reason. The Rising released in the aftermath of 9/11 is I think the next bright spot.
Hated the Pet Shop Boys music then, still hate it.
I can think of music I loved but I don't really listen to any more - Echo and the Bunnymen, for example.
But I can't think of anyone I didn't like then that I do like now. I listen to the Beatles and the Doors more than I did in the early 70s, and I've discovered artists I didn't really know of at the time - Gram Parsons, Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, George Jones.

My parents liked them and I guess I just thought of them as middle of the road adult orientated rock but turns out they fabulous one the most original bands ever.
There are loads of bands/ artists that I simply didn’t know when I was young that I absolutely love now, but as regards bands/artists that I knew and didn’t like, but really like now (to name but a few):
Bob Dylan
David Bowie
Talking Heads
Roxy Music
Kraftwerk
Early Genesis (Foxtrot (#3 album of theirs) is probably my favourite)
Rush
Early Black Sabbath (the debut — although a classic — is a bit underwhelming, but they then released six or seven albums back to back that are absolute classics and the two RJD ones are also great)
I don’t really know the Fleetwood Mac catalogue but it’s on my to do list. Hall & Oates is another great shout but I only have the Private Eyes album, which is very good, so can’t say that I really like them (yet). Ditto Springsteen (only have Nebraska)
