in other amusing news i enjoyed the bbc upd6 which sed something along the lines of “2 spect7tors have just asked todd murphy 2 sign a piece of sandpaper. he politely declined”
Raised eyebrows at the ball change before lunch. The Australian skipper innocently handing back the leprous remnants of what had a perfectly good Dukes just minutes before. Atherton inscrutable.
Half the seam was coming off it, a new ball then two England wickets fall in quick succession. Looked like someone had been having a go at it with a cheese grater.
This ball tampering incident just before lunch on the final day of the third test went largely unnoticed. Australia having little fortune with the older ball managed to contrive a ball change. Another Dukes ball came out of the box and some big England wickets fell. Needless to say this did not effect the outcome of the game. Unremarkable.
Never buy a paper during the week, but saw the Times have 5 pages devoted to the Ashes so invested in a copy today to see whether Atherton and co have as much collective wisdom as the likes of Davos and co here.

I'm not surprised. Can you imagine what it might do to his fountain pen?

Bet a bit of sandpaper signed by Smudge would be worth a fair amount.
