I am in the background of a nascent dispute. Client has sent me a letter to check over before it is sent to the other side.
Legally it is fine. But it contains an enormous stinking, steaming superfluous reflexive.
How do I explain my amendment without revealing that I am a supercilious old tw@t?

Is it upsetting to yourself?

I’ve had a look at your draft and confined my comments to legal issues, as it’s important it retains your own ‘voice’.

…even though it makes you sound like a junior estate agent.

I have left much as your letter as drafted as I don’t think that it would assist your case at this stage to alert the other side that you have had professional input.
