Acupuncture

Anyone recommend it or is it a load of old nonsense?

what is it for?  I think the giving up smoking with it thing is hocus, but for pain relief, hell fooking yes

helps if you can't see them all wobbling about though

Yes, had it twice.

Once as part of recuperation and physio post an ankle rebuild, where all the leg muscles in the months after turned to rock as they were all dealing with a new set of ligaments and joints. Soften the calf muscle and allowed the knots in the rest of the leg from illio-tibial band down to foot arch to relax.

Once to help a shoulder rotator cuff injury that was being obstructed by muscle tension around shoulder and neck. Sorted it out in a flash.

but if I drink it leaks out now.

I too had it as part of a larger physio treatment for a broken collarbone. I healed-ish, but I don't know how much of the recovery was due to the acupuncture and how much was to placebo effect or the other treatments I was receiving.

I've just been offered "dry needling" by my current chiro, but I'm not convinced. There is not enough evidence of its efficacy, though there is plenty of anecdotal evidence.

If it is just tension then get a massage, a proper one that hurts like fook when you are getting it but makes you feel like you are walking on air once it is done.

Both our kids conceived immediately after wife started acupuncture for fertility - in each case after months of unsuccessfully trying. Could be coincidence but I doubt it.

I actually did that on Monday night Tecco and thought of you as I went off brand with Jo Malone bath oil!

Interesting Wilf, worth a try I guess, no harm done.

It didn't get me preggo (you need another kind of prick for that, apparently) but I found it helpful.  I loved my acu lady and my hourly session was helpful to talk to her about stuff and to lay there processing my thoughts without the phone going, etc.

I really rate Emma at this place if you are going to do it: http://www.acupuncture-works.co.uk/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/3412?opendocum…

I was generally sceptical about acu but once when I went I had a stinking cold and warned that I might not be able to lie down for long because I couldn't breathe.  She said "don't worry about that", stuck and extra couple of needles in my face and it was amazing - I could breathe clearly.  So maybe there is something in it.

years back on holiday in Germany my old dear got struck by a massive migraine (the i cant see any more and my brain is rattling round like an egg in a pint glass kind).

the german doc gave her accupuncture with a few pins in her crown and one in the centre of her forehead.  they were in for half a day and she cleared up.  the intervening period of ten year old me shouting EXTERMINATE at her and laughing hysterically every few minutes was probably less helpful.

normally I am very skeptical about quacckery but in this case the fact that a german dr used it makes me wonder.

Yeah it does seem to work for pain and stress and whatnot.  Not sure on the old baby making side of things.  Presumably clubbers has a Prince Albert or something if it is true.
