Accomodating the Marines (Royal)

The idiocy of the HMG to integrate RN and RMC is something to patrol

A substantial part of the role, for hundreds of years, was that the Marines served to protect the officers of the Royal Navy. Are they now so stupid? HMG/MOD; they have no idea,

The crew and officers of the RN are kept separate by command. And then by weapons. For a reason.

Those rifles are carrired by Royal Marines. And pistols. This day.

In 2019? Complacency. eh? One of your friends told you that, eh? Mutiny in the RN has happened within living memory. No worries. The ringleaders were cashiered. Given the time, they were fortunate not to be shot. At Dawn,

RM won't give a toss about the chain of command from the RN. Simple.

They are a unit unto themselves and no amount of government meddling will change that. It has played out over the decades in practice.

Because the most recent concern about mutiny related to bullying was like 15 years ago on the type 23, HMS Somerset, it was a bad situation on the vessel but the investigating team did their job and the captain (well he was a commander actually but whatevs) was recalled immediately.

To go back to your original point, yes the duke of Albany and york’s Maritime company of foot did have a dual role, which involved protecting the officers but they were also required to take part in boarding actions etc.  That was a long time ago and whilst the current Royal Marines Commando trace their roots back to then, they have a far different role now.

Thus, Albion, Bulwark, Ocean and their new helicopters to go on the Queen Elizabeth.  Mutiny is not considered an issue by any within either fleet.

No, because judging by his recent posts he’s actually madder than me and anyway I’ve just taken some sleeping tablets.  Whatever, he needs to learn his history and pay less attention to tin foil hat conspiracy theories.

So insubordination upon a Royal Navy ship at sea was some 15 years ago? This is very serious.  So you concede my point? I rather think you do.

When it comes to the crunch (or rather the bridge) where are the Royal Marines? They protect the officers. With pistols and rifles. Yes they have a dual role, not least as the landing force. But they are the police aboard. They (or at least their officers) do not (or should not) go to sleep onboard.
