20mph limit led to more dangerous driving

Claims bloke with some unsubstantiated anecdata that he probably just made up.

What a fooking moron. All the actual data demonstrates this to be a good thing. He seems to.think that because some people decide not to drive at the new, lower speed llmit, lower speed limits are bad.

I've been hit by a car going at rather more than 30 in a town centre.  It was not entirely optimal and resulted in the imprint of a headlight in the back of one leg for some weeks.

20 mph limits are often OTT in my view

HEAR HEAR! BUT ALL TOO PREDICTABLY THEY’VE WHEELED OUT SOME KILLJOY WHO WANTS TO RUIN OUR FUN!

The chief medical officer for Wales Dr Frank Atherton told ITV News there was a convincing case for reducing the speed limit on all roads.

He said: "If you're struck by a car travelling at 30mph, your risk of dying is five times what it would be if that car was travelling at 20mph.

"What we've seen in other countries which have gone down this route is a 20% reduction in fatalities and that's a big gain and we're seeing the same implications in cities like Bristol and Edinburgh."

The 20mph limit is total balls bollock useless pointless in urban carriageways. On side roads it’s not enforced. How these c unts can’t manage such a basic issue how tf can you trust them with the economy???? Fvck the fvck off

Yes but consider that people would reach their destinations slightly more slowly and that driving 20mph is a bit boring

These are legitimate points TBF, but they probably don't outweigh the reduction in fatalities and the generally increased pleasantness of the urban environment.

If you want people to drive safely, don’t put an airbag in the steering wheel. Put a spike sticking out of it. It’s all a simple matter of incentives.

Steering wheel = free will

Airbag = welfare state

Spike = debtor's prison

Risky= Rees Mogg

I reckon they're of limited utility, but human nature is to go a little bit over, so I'd rather a 20mph where there was some discretion to prosecute (as now) rather than, say, a strictly enforced 30mph (as in some countries).
