Dave Poddar and Angela Flannery have both left Allen & Overy's Sydney office after very short partnership tenures. Flannery had been at the firm for two years, whilst Podar only managed to stick it out for one.

It's pretty unusual for partners to jump ship so quickly, but competition law specialist Poddar and finance lawyer Flannery both handed in their notice on 27 September, according to a report in Lawyers Weekly. The pair had both left long-held positions at rival firms to join A&O. Flannery was first to join the Magic Circle firm as one of the coterie of lawyers poached from Clayton Utz  in 2010. And in 2011 she was followed by her husband, who had been a King & Wood Mallesons partner for the previous12 years.

Jumping ship yesterday (how it probably didn't look)

Alas, it seems that the move didn't work out for either of them. Allen & Overy would not comment on the pair's mysterious departure other than to say "Dave Poddar and Angela Flannery have resigned from Allen & Overy. We would like to thank them for their service during their time at Allen & Overy and wish them all the best for the future."  RollOnFriday was not able to contact Poddar for comment.
