A second-year law student from Queensland University has been fined $1,000 after he represented himself as a qualified solicitor and engaged in legal practice when he wasn't qualified

Jacob Reichman is a 22-year-old law student and a lowly clerk for barrister Chris Rosser. However Beenleigh Magistrates Court got to know him as a fully-qualified solicitor of firm Michelle Porcheron Lawyers, as he introduced himself as such during several court appearances in 2013.

    Reichman's next career move

Flaunting his fantasy legal lifestyle, the law student posted screen grabs of himself appearing on television news bulletins on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram complete with the hashtags #lawyer, #younglawyer, and #criminallawyers. How about #iamabarefacedliar?

Reichman’s lawyer says he suffers attention deficit disorder and was “mesmorised” by barrister Chris Rosser, for whom he still works. Reichman pleaded guilty to all charges at Brisbane Magistrates and was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $1,084 in legal costs.

Magistrate Anne Thacker describes Reichman as being “swept away in the excitement of commencing what you believed was going to be your career at an earlier point than what you were permitted to do so”.
