Corporate solicitor James Ryan, of Walker Morris died last week following an avalanche in the Italian Alps.

Ryan was an accomplished skier and 14 years ago helped rescue several people who'd been buried alive on the foothills of Mount Everest. Walker Morris' Chairman told RollOnFriday that Ryan was a "first class lawyer and a truly nice young man, with a great career ahead of him."

A memorial service is being held at 2pm on Tuesday 13th April at All Hallows Church, Almondbury, Huddersfield.

For anyone who would like to make a donation there are two charities that Ryan's family have recommended:

- Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association, c/o Richard Longman, The Croft, Netherton Road, St Bees, Cumbria, CA27 0AY; and

- Forget-me–Not Trust, 146 Longbow Close, Pennine Business Park, Bradley, HD2 1GQ.
