A male defendant was barred from a Magistrates Court when he turned up in shorts and a vest, but then allowed entry after returning in a blouse and skirt.

47-year-old David Jeffries-Tipton was charged with criminal damage after being accused of urinating on his former girlfriend's dog basket. Woof. He arrived at Cannock Magistrates Court this week in shorts and a vest, and was told by ushers that he was inappropriately dressed. So he went to a charity shop, bought a skirt and silk blouse, donned his new wardrobe and entered the court unchallenged. Those with a strong constitution can see pics here.

Jeffries-Tipton said that "one of the solicitors seemed to see the funny side", but it was "ridiculous that it came to that in order for me to get my case heard" and claimed that he would be making a complaint. A spokesman for the court said that "people attending court are expected to dress in a manner that will respect the dignity of the court".

Jeffries-Tipton admitted pissing on the dog basket and will be back in court for sentencing on 20th June, no doubt in a summer frock and a pair of kitten heels.
