More firms have announced strong trainee retention figures this week.
HowardKennedyfsi and Kingsley Napley have both posted perfect 100% scores. And Latham & Watkins, which has just one intake a year, is retaining 13 out of 14 trainees in London, giving the US firm an impressive 93% score. It has also, in a sign of confidence, increased the size of this year's trainee intake to 21.
Meanwhile, DAC Beachcroft has announced a healthy 82% score, although its jubilant press release, like those of several other firms, failed to mention that some trainees (one in DAC's case) are being retained on short term contracts.
Macfarlanes has posted an unremarkeable 75% score. But it's still way above Clarke Willmott's dismal 50%. Insiders tell RollOnFriday the firm, which declined to comment, has axed four out of eight trainees. Stewarts Law is rumoured to have posted an even worse 40%. The litigation specialist also failed to respond to requests for comment.
Here are the updated stats:
*Firm has placed one or more qaulifying trainees on short term contracts.
**Firm declined to confirm figure.
