Media firm Davenport Lyons has made one member of staff redundant, and RollOnFriday has been told that many more may be in the pipeline.

Sources claim that the firm is having a tough time, with millions of pounds of debt to service and a spate of redundancies on the cards. And that wouldn't be entirely surprising as the firm specialises in aggressive media litigation (two of its partners were suspended and fined £20,000 each for sending out threatening letters to alleged file-sharers), a market that has withered recently. Just last week RollOnFriday revealed that Schillings was cancelling its graduate recruitment programme and making redundancies.

Why not consolidate all your debts into one easy monthly payment?

A spokeswoman for the firm said that one member of staff had been made redundant and "we continue to review how to deal with the present economic climate". But she wouldn't discuss whether any more jobs were at risk, on the grounds that "were there any such employment issues it would obviously not be appropriate to discuss them through the media".

She confirmed that the firm used "borrowing as part of the overall financing of the business" but wouldn't comment further.

One member of staff being made redundant is not really news, the four secretaries made redundant since that date is also not news.
