The streets of Turnham Green and Chiswick are surprisingly well stocked with pretty and alluring eateries all vying for your spare bucks, so it was always going to take something special to stand out from this crowd.

The High Road Brasserie is a powerhouse restaurant that certainly stands out. It was always going to please given it's one of the famous Soho House group (Babington, Chiswick, Electric, Shoreditch, Soho and Dean Street Townhouse) which seems obsessed with making luxuriously welcoming places in which to enjoy simple and tasty food.

We're big fans of the various Houses in London and will slap down our Dean Street review shortly. It's not really our fault as each House maintains that excellent level of service and quality of product. We have no choice other than to love this 'chain' of clubs (and we're confident you will too).

Another House throws caution to the hygiene wind

Other outlets aside, the High Road Brasserie is a fine example in itself. We lack the proper architectural knowledge to best describe the interior, but inside it's a mish-mash of classic art-deco stylings crumpled against quirky floor tiles. Whatever it is, High Road Brasserie manages to make it look like a classic British tea room but still make it welcoming and comfortable. It's definitely a cool place to hang out, especially when the sun's glaring outside whilst you sit and enjoy a long lazy brunch.

The food is great too with an excellent menu of continental dishes with the normal favourites (steak frites) and stuff for special occasions (oysters followed by lobster and chips). For us though, brunch is a definite favourite here with salt beef bagels and a good croque monsieur/madame on offer.

Whatever you choose you'll be happily fed allowing you to worry about the more pressing issue of which section of the Sunday paper you start with (always sport). As for drinks, be sure to try one of their fantastic champagne (aka sparkling) cocktails which slip down well all day long... Perfection.
