Whitechapel is quickly overtaking Brick Lane as our favourite curry spot - it has Tayyabs, Mirch Marsala, Lahore Kebab House and, it's latest gem, Needoo Grill.

Even though it sounds like a character from Star Wars, Needoo is a major new player in the curry game - it's Mixed Grill and Dry Meat are already famous around curry aficionados (and rightly so as they're both amazing).

The Needoo waiters capably deal with queue jumpers at the restaurant

Opened by a graduate from the Tayyabs' workforce, Needoo Grill is a relatively new venture. The queues at Tayyabs are often monstrous, so a tandoori grill which offers the same high standards but with a fraction of the wait is a winner in our book. On our visit we did have to wait a little while but we supped on one of our byob beers (no alcohol is sold here, but they are happy for you to ship your own in) and gazed longingly at the marinating meats in the open plan kitchen.

You can clearly taste the Tayyubs influence on the Mixed Grill, in particular in the juicy lambchops that have a welcome kick to it. It is addictive though - just thinking about them has us scrabbling for the diary to see when we can next fit in a chop.

Aside from the meat, you'll be foolish not to try some of the karahis and array of other starters that are worth their place on any feast.

At the end of the meal you'll mainly be battling the meat sweats, but also shock when you see your bill come in at an entirely reasonable average of £15 a head (based on normal eaters). Quality at that price is something that should be worshipped.
