We have already reviewed Marks bar a while ago, and we actually held back on reviewing the restaurant bit under which Marks lurks as we wanted to spread our reviewing love a little bit further. It was, however, an agonising wait.

To be honest, we've longed to lead the bandwagon crowing about the virtues of eating at Hix Soho; we've been a fan of his cooking since his first original effort near Farringdon. So, thankfully the wait is over and here it is: We love Hix Soho.

Much as we have already established with the feats of Marks cocktail bar, the Hix standard is hoisted far higher than others and in far more areas; the interior has been tastefully decorated with a smattering of commissions from the latest cool Brit artists (Emin, Hirst... it's like a Turner Prize souvenir catalogue), the staff are warm and friendly and the food is beyond compare.

Emin was in such a hurry to make Hix Soho lunch that she barely had time to rubbish her bed

The food is seriously good and well thought out, starting from the very beginning with an unhealthy helping of pork crackling with apple sauce, you will happily succumb to gluttonous desires. In fact, we're confident you will enjoy whichever item on the menu takes your fancy.

For starters, we devoured our Heaven and Earth which is an unapologetic ball of black pudding sat on a body of mash which tastes exactly as advertised. We happily followed this with a porterhouse steak so big and juicy that you're forced to share it with another person. Weighing in at a kilo of beef, you'll be glad for another mouth to feed, not least because it leaves some space for you to gorge yourself on the fantastic desserts. Course after course you won't be disappointed.

Well, there we are. We're glad to confirm our love for Mr Hix and his merry band of cooks as well as his merry band of mixologists. All in all, we're big fans and once you've tried a night out here, we're pretty sure you'll be joining the club too.
