and an “active shooter” presented an immediate threat to them of grave harm
would u rush the c.unt?
me: yes
doesnt matter what you’re toting or how good a marksman you think you are. I’m a decent sized unit. If I crash through the back of you, you’re hitting the deck and then all bets are off.

Would I throw my out-of-shape and untrained body at an armed man? No. In an ideal world, I'd take him out with my revolver.

he’s probably not going to be in great shape or very well trained himself tbf
all these people turn out to be never seen a gym, unsexed jokers don’t they
I’d take the chance
worst case - you die a hero

Fair enough,, but I'd rather have a gun to back me up.

oh for sure
in an environment where every fook up can get a gun, eventually it probably makes sense for a few of the sensible to carry them
that’s why lack of gun control is so pernicious

I’d like to think I would but I’d probably be shot cowering on the floor like most people are when confronted with firing semi automatic weapons

are you advocating arming teachers, dux? this is Ted Cruz's solution, i believe.

Basically wot Laz said.
Either have strict gun controls, or make sure you arm the right people.

I would walk up behind and do a karate chop like Roger Moore

I basically hate life. Children are one of the few good things in it.
I’d never attempt suicide. I’m an optimist and I dislike the aesthetic. Wouldn’t even accept euthanasia if terminally ill.
I’d probably take the chance of a hero’s death tho. Was tempted to join the military at one point and this was, with hindsight, probably part of that.

makes a perverted sort of sense, but what a sad state of affairs if the ultimate solution for protecting kids at school is an arms race between their teachers (or security guards) and their potential murderers.
sometimes i see stupid questions on quora like "how come people in UK don't move to USA and earn more money, have better lives etc" and my first reaction is usually "because i don't want to put my kids in an education system where active shooter drills are part of the fooking school curriculum, tvm"

I think most people in those roles probably feel more protective of the kids than aggressive to the gunmen and I expect the natural reaction is to act as a human shield/turntables over to protect them etc

this was an active issue for a guy I know
founder of an innovative startup, brilliant technologist and visionary, superb advocate for his ideas
also a young father
was strongly encouraged to move himself, his business and therefore his family to california to access a much greater capital pool there
not impossible to succeed elsewhere but definitely materially less likely
he said he couldn’t do it, for his kids’ sake
I’d probably make the same call

Some of the adverse health events reported in children given gonadotropine releasing hormone analogs:
Damage to the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and gonads, bone fractures, blood disorders, height and body mass decreases, permanent loss of bone mineral density, early menopause, fatigue, chronic pain, mood swings, hot flashes, infertility, seizures, brittle bones, depression, anxiety, osteoporosis, decreased IQ, and impairment to cognitive functions such as linguistic ability, short-term memory capacity, mental flexibility, and inhibitory control
How many of you have spoken out about this medical crisis underway right now harming children, using your real name, using your own funds, or risking your own economic stability? How many of you care enough about the safeguarding of children to have refused to draft the policies which enabled this, refused to represent companies silencing whistleblowers?

Laz it's not too late to join the military. You'd probably be CO of the SAS fairly quickly

Good to see Laz has found some courage from the days when he couldn't face down indolent teenagers wolf whistling the rack on his wife to be. We all evolve after all.

yes it is indeed good to have progressed from the stage of being the subject of totally made up ROF anecdotes posted by pipless self hating doughboys like you

it’s certainly not too late to do something with the reservists, but I’ve changed
a career in the police tempts tho
the po po are big recruiters of mature entrants - mature people do v well at policing

Impossible to say. In principle I approve and I don't think I'd panic but you can't be sure. Once you've seen bodies your brain won't be in reasoned mode.

I reckon Laz, after about 15 years stoic service on the steppes of West Norfolk, could just about have made Lance Corporal in the Land Army.
