Full-time working

Am I totally mad contemplating swapping my current nice little part-time gig for going back to working full-time?  Other plans aren't taking up as much time as I expected and the earnings boost for a while is quite tempting.  Job share partner also seems to be throttling back and doing less work so I'm trying to fit more into my four days in the office.  On the other hand there will of course be greater expectations in terms of billing targets and business development and all of that nonsense.

To be honest it's probably only marginally more work but with more time to do it.  Currently it's not practical to fit in other commitments at the weekend but that should change in the next three months or so and then I can't really see any reason not to do it for a while.

Unless your really need the money (or want to push ahead with your legal career) then yes you are mad.  Decent part time gigs are incredibly difficult to come by and there is still a huge amount of sexism that means they are particularly hard for men to get.

Don't give it up unless you are absolutely sure you won't want to go back to it because going to back to part time may be much harder than you think.

There are plenty of part-time gigs out there if you don't mind being a temp but permanent part-time jobs are harder to come by although I work in a firm full of part-timers.  Long term goal is effectively self-employment at which point it ceases to be an issued.
