heh, haven't read the FT article but no or at least not JUST because she was sexy. She was a very young telegenic female CEO with a product that looked likely to help people.
The whole world really badly WANTS to believe that sort of story. It's much, much easier to sell a lie when it's one people want to believe.
What woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth rather than the 99 who need no such repentance
huh? She’s not remotely sexy. She just looks weird. And even if you thought she was attractive the voice - a fake she put on incidentally - would complete the turn off process
She seemed to charm a certain type of man, old, powerful (or had been) of the Henry Kissinger and James Baker mode. However those eyes, very intense and she had that Silicon Valley seriousness about her. I could see why some might find that attractive but I tend more to Clergs view of her.
I don't think those men find her attractive necessarily (or at least not in a way that does anything for them personally) but more that they are flattered that the latest young "it" thing from Silicon Valley is looking to them for guidance/support/patronage.
also note that she did not get away with it. She’s going to be in prison when all the trials are finished for a lot longer than she was a paper billionaire
also note that she did not get away with it. She’s going to be in prison when all the trials are finished for a lot longer than she was a paper billionaire
She didn't "get away with it" exactly but she did get very much further than she had any right to given the basic implausibility of the technology she was touting
slightly psychotic glint in the eye - looks a bit like a much less hot version of a "girlfriend" I had who carried out a low level stalking exercise on me for a couple of years (waaaay back when I was more easily swayed by a pretty ankle).

Yeah. I reckon it pulled the wool over people’s eyes. Not all though!
Aren’t there a load of legal cases lined up against her? She hasn’t got away with it ultimately, I reckon. I think she’s a fantastic liar.

She is not sexy. I mean I wood ofc, she’s female and relatively slim. But she doesn’t ooze sex.

btw the Carreyrou book Bad Blood about Theranos is some of the best business writing I’ve read. It reads like a thriller but is all true

I am not convinced she will see much jail time.

Has anyone watched the film about her (The Inventor Out for Blood in Silicon Valley) ?
If yes, was it any good, worth watching?

She's not sexy or attractive in any way IMO, rather she has that unmistakable air of bunny boiler about her.
