Diane Abbott

Did anyone hear her on Radio 4 this morning.

That woman makes me so angry.  she is so dumb - how on earth is she such a senior politician?

i heard her start comparing the Assange case with that poor bloke with autism who was wanted by the Americans, did a massive eye roll and switched off. I dont know therefore what she was going to go on and say but I did think I cant be the only person to think she must be dumb to start comparing the cases.

What you have to remember is that 3/4 of the shadow cabinet resigned a couple of years back in protest against Corbyn. He literally couldn’t fill the spaces. The people who are there now (with the exception of Starmer who came in later) are there simply because they were Corbyn loyalists. They have literally no other qualification.

Of course the issue being, so are the conservatives.

There is no point in a GE as everyone hates either of the two primary options that could realistically form a government.

She is aggressively dumb and seems to be of the belief that repeating your reasoning several times will somehow make it better even if it's fundamentally flawed.

Fred stupid is different from dumb. You can be intelligent, but still say and do plenty dumb things. Not that going to Cambridge excludes you from the category. I've met plenty morons who made it to Cambridge and some of them were from a working class background.

I don't agree with what she said about Assange (or very many things she says, tbh) but she is not even close to being one of the stupidest MPs in the House of Commons.

I like her because she basically behaves like a posh Tory white man.

Which is to say that she's a rampantly hypocritical idiot with far more confidence than her ability warrants, but I enjoy how angry that makes people who think that behaviour is only acceptable if you went to Eton.

Diane Abbott comes across as not so much thick as extremely blinkered, resistant to new information and full of pre-judged opinions. She is also clearly not used to working with numbers.

As for her record, the famous remark about blonde Finnish nurses being unsuitable to work in Hackney does show she is racially prejudiced.

I cannot think of an MP who would make a worse Home Secretary, although I am sure there are some as the House of Commons is a very, very shallow pool of talent.
