Two of the top ten are Sam Smiths'. There are also a number of RiF drinks venies in here.

A lot of the pubs on that list are absolute w**k. The Crosse Keys or the OBE FFS! No.1 is a gem it’s true and there are some other staples on there eg the Mitre. But I didn’t see the Seven Stars or the Three Kings of Clerkenwell.

Back in the day when I was a regular patron of central London pubs, my favourite was the Oxford Arms on Camden High Street. It has since returned to being an utterly mundane, stripped out with flatscreens, football-lager-and-passing-trade London boozer. But back when I loved it it was run by Pat Logue, since relocated to the Sheephaven Arms at the other end of Camden High St. A lovely feller who manages to invest his pubs with personality and make everyone feel like a regular. Had a truly great Monday evening quiz night. I lived round the corner and was in there five nights a week.

Ten years ago they voted The Raynes Park tavern as the best pub in London . Anyone seeing that would have thought it was a massive , massive typo. Its filled with tradesman openly sniffing gear, and Z list local wanabee gangsters. The "food" is inedible and the place stinks.

I fairly recently went to a pub called The Bell, Walthamstow, which is a quite large and rambling place in the middle of nowhere on a junction of two arterial urban roads. In fairness I suppose it is quite close to Waltham Forest College and the former Mags’ Court. That was lovely. An unexpectedly absolutely great place. Lively, well decorated, good beer and food. It was probably full of tradesmen snorting gack tbf but the atmosphere was pleasant. People had brought their kids in on a weekday night, which to me, not being in any way a kidophobe, is a good mark of a friendly, family oriented suburban boozer. I’d move there just to live near it.

I know most pubs in London, and I don't think I've ever been to one in Camden (ugh), I have in Soho but can't remember any, and only the Shakespeare's Whatsit in Islington.

Dreadful places.

Have you been to the Sheep(haven) Bay in Camden (well Mornington Crescent arguably) Laz since Pat Logue moved there?

Very good, would rank it top in Camden area by some way, though the Dub Castle is still a good live music pub.
