ROF Summer Drinks - Fri 13th Aug - The Fence Farringdon from 530pm

Everyone be there - karaoke to follow after. 

Welcome, BigDave! I think current ROF median age range is probably 35-45, but you'll be fine. 

Everyone has to start somewhere with ROF drinks..

If you come early I'll probably be the first one in to claim the tables I've booked

Most often, people will tell you their ROF names+real first name. Varies a lot. Some people are very cagey about where they work and what they do. Others don't care and will tell you anything..

Have people ever turned up and realised another Roffer from their firm is there, who they never knew roffed?  Quite conscious of that happening although would be amusing. 

Word on the super secret Whatsapp group is that the SRA are all over this.

They are apparently sending a pretty young female to pose as junior associate and 'entrap' partners into career and marriage ending situations, which will all be filmed on a covert body-worn camera then submitted to the SDT.

3 years and £200k in legal fees later the then unemployed and recently divorced parter will eventually be found not guilty of misconduct having had the SDT's original decision reversed on appeal.  

RoF drinks is just not worth it m7s.

yes, sort of

realised in one of these threads that a lurker was a well known borderline nutter in the firm

cue arriving early and briefing people "I am not Sumo I am Randy Randalman okay!" to two people who already knew me

 

I popped into one of these with my Missus once. I happened to be in London and we met up for dinner after work.

She recognised a few people there from various firms, but she doesn't post. They kept asking what her RoF name was.

She said she didn't have one and then they ignored her.

Thanks to stru for organising (and asti for the karaoke) but i fear that something relatively major has cropped up and i now won't be able to pop along.

Very, very cross about this but events, dear boy, events.

Hopefully catch up with as many of you lovely people as possible real soon at another drinks.

hah - what you classify as baldness it is merely a man's construct to have excellent reception and satellite dome for transmission. All to further the mankind. 

Is that a cautionary or inspirational tale? ("You thought you were just stopping by rof drinks for two pints max. Next thing you know you're married to a roffer and have sprogged ...")

I find myself unexpectedly free tomorrow evening.  Whilst devastated that Le Strutt is not in attendance, i see others i know look like they will be.

Can i just check who is about tomorrow please?  I think i could be there from around 6.

Meh - no I meant to get money from ROF Towers but completely forgot. I think Puppy was trying to organise lunchtime pre drinking but not sure a burger was organised. You coming?

I emailed ROF to ask for money for us to drink away, but apparently there has now been a change of policy and they only sponsor official ROF events - so we have to pay for our own drinks this evening..

Sadly, my real name for anyone who remembers it (because I had to pay a deposit). It's the covered area outdoors in the back of The Fence (not the terrace - that had already been booked by another group). 

The booking starts at 530 and I'll be there by then. Anyone who doesn't know me by sight can ask if Alan Orange is at the table, as is tradition..(or post on this thread and we'll help you out..). 

Are people going to be there earlier?

I am coming and will be there around 5.45 - 6.  Stru, we haven't met and i am not aware of your real name but i am wearing patterned trousers today with a lot of pink on them!  That should help if you see a wandering person looking vague.

(We haven’t met Bailey but you kindly answered a bunch of questions on email for me well over a decade ago about getting a mini pupillage and I did actually take vacation from my firm and do one after that) 

BigDave coming in hot tonight.  Got my litigator mate from our trainee days who I’ve not seen in 5 years joining, who has been a prolific lurker and minor poster for the past decade.

Wow, Rhamnousia is going. Ha, I thought she just hated everyone and everything? 

Considering she clashes with everyone on ROF but is still attending, it does once again suggest she doesn't actually have any one in real life who can tolerate her.

It's like a pre-season friendly away at a conference team - mostly reserves with the token first teamer.

I saw Noel Whelan score a cracking overhead volley in a game like that, and on that very flimsy basis I have hope for drinks. 

I'll be there earlyish.
