Massive microfibre wicking towel with a luxurious unstained robe. My kids have them (kids size obvs) and I noticed how quickly they dried and how warm.
never use fabric softener (I never use it anyway) with towels, and every now and again do them on a 90 degree wash with no detergent. It's good for them and your washing machine.

Primark- still got some left over from when my missus first stayed over - like a decade ago and they’re still ace.

Adult size versions now exist.

I'm a fan of Debenhams ones

Tumble drying rather than drying on a rack is much better for keeping them soft

John Lewis. They do good value bundles.

I'm well into Onsen towels now. They don't feel as nice but they dry you just as quickly as thick towels and crucially they dry much more quickly.
I imported them from the US, but it looks as if the Conran shop do them now, albeit more expensive.

John Lewis. Always washed at 90 degrees with a cup of vinegar rather than fabric softener. One has lasted for 20 years.

The White Company bath sheets are excellent.

I like my towels a bit rough after washing and drying as then they exfoliate as you dry!
On a more serious note my John Lewis towels have lasted ages.

Ship's Log, Day 43. Sails hoisted, mid-Atlantic. I fear the crew are losing morale...

It is important always to know where your towel is.
