I'm having one of those days, sorry!
I arranged to meet a friend to watch the rugby and I booked a table at a pub. He has just said he doesn't like the pub so will watch it at another pub instead. I'm really cross that he didn't say this when we made arrangements. I don't know whether to go to the pub I booked by myself, go to the one he's going to, or just stay at home.
What would Rof do?

Did he say *he* is going to watch it somewhere else, or did he say don't like that pub let's go to x together
cos if it's the first you're NFI anyway by the sounds of it

He said "this other bar is ok and wasn't too busy last week". Not sure whether I'm invited or not, but I think so.

Meet him at the other pub and pull a guilt trip re the booking so he buys you a few drinks to make up for it.

Bottle of plonk and a tin of pringles on the sofa. Then send abusive messages to said friend.

If he means for you both to just go somewhere else, then go

Invite him round to your place and murder him with poison prawns.

That's the most tempting option

Should I have a beer?
Watching at home, and need to go to to someone else's house for a dinner party thing at 6. There's a danger I could end up tanked. Which would be problematic.

Yes, but don't go crazy

3.5 halves of rugby?

No seat/table, no deal. Home sounds the safest/most comfortable option (but presumably fewer opportunities for snogz).

Oh god, he's absolutely not that type of friend!!

This is totally abs isn't it. Has he invited you down the tavern again?

Heh. I don't think Abs is much of a rugby fan, is he?

He is welsh dude, I think it is illegal not to like rugby there

Stir, much as I love you, think you’ve over planned it a bit by booking a table. Shoulda just rocked up. That’s what pubs are for. Now he probably thinks you want to marry him or something

So the rugby was consumed with a lot of beer. Which, to be fair, was certainly needed to stomach the England game.
Then dinner and wine. And wine. Yay.

The prawns are still in the fridge. I think it's definitely too late for them.
I went to the pub with my mate, watched England fluke a win in a hurricane, got drinking with the People's Front of Judea version of crossfit who made me drink a shot, then I got home and went to the nice Italian restaurant downstairs by myself and read my book and had pasta and wine. A good day.

It has been a really nice afternoon/evening. 8/10 would recommend to a friend.
