I also feel sorry for Portsmouth having trump hi-jack their event.
Why are we indulging this fvcker. (Yes, I know tmpm in one of her infamous terrible decisions said he could have a state visit, but still. Plenty of grounds for cancelling it now.)
But he's also the democratically-elected leader of (so we are told) our greatest ally and, in any event, a country like many other countries whose leaders we host (and some others whose leaders we host who are definitely not democratically-elected).
WTF is the problem with the Queen hosting him and giving him a State visit? Like she periodically does for numerous other leaders from around the world who are arguably much, much more heinous leaders than Trump (and in respect of such visits there is much less objection to or comment on both on ROF or anywhere else).

This thread or the whole new 'mean Stix' person?
Apparently neither have been well-received, I'm afraid.

I know I’ve been a witch recently, and I’m going to tone it down. That said, I’m afraid I don’t think your joke worked. That isn’t me being nasty.

Stix is not a witch apart from the broomstick and the pointy hat.

The joke may mean something when it is not just a random jumble of words

Sorry BC, but what Abbs said. There was a joke?
I agree though Stix - poor Queen. Though she must be an expert at this, having hosted her fair share of loons and buffoons.

Will Trump be asking for a big mac at the state dinner?

"thought I was going slightly mad"
If this was intentional then it was funnier than your original post.

Dude, I could see that you were making a Queen/Queen joke, it just didn’t really work in the context of the State visit in my opinion.
Not finding something amusing isn’t the same as not seeing what you’re trying to do...

Don't try so hard, Stix.

May come out better next time

Her Maj should give him a well-publicised tour of the Tower of London, including dungeons. I’m sure he would lap it up and everyone else would get it.

Given his Scottish roots maybe show him where Wallace was hung, drawn and quartered.

The Queen should arrange to be busy that day.

Hasn't he already had one? When her Madge had to herd him like a brain damaged corgi ?

No, that was a working visit. This one involves him staying at the palace (hope they lock up the silver) and throwing him a banquet.

I really don't get this.
Trump is a chump, etc etc.
But he's also the democratically-elected leader of (so we are told) our greatest ally and, in any event, a country like many other countries whose leaders we host (and some others whose leaders we host who are definitely not democratically-elected).

People seem fuzzy-headed / deranged on this.

He's not staying at the Palace as they've got the decorators in.

But presumably they are similarly unable to accept the political views of, say, the Chinese or Saudi Arabian leaders?

I think a lot of popular opposition to Trump has melted away. He's yesterdays news.
There will be relatively small scale and disruptive protests of course. Still not a reason to keep him away.
