Given that he's reputed to be an absolute cúnt, it's probably the lifetime of scowling and general cúntery showing in his appearance rather than age per se.
Saw an interview with him at the weekend trying to make out what a good guy he was for not having paid people to use violence to solve New Order’s internal squabbles.
Weirdly it's kind of been eclipsed in their back catalogue by Crystal and the next album now which was years later after an acrimonious split and reluctant get back together

Mind you Hook isn’t much better.

It wasn't the obvious Regret actually
Was the second single off that album, World (Price of Love) which is something of a forgotten gem now

By contrast, don't Gillian and Stephen live blissfully in relative anonymity in suburban Cheshire with their kids?

Manchester in the 80s was grim tbf. Recession, overcast and the pub.

I thought they were pretty meh live a few years back
No Hooky and he really can't sing any more
But still great tunes, great band and of course sprung from the great Joy Division so...

True Faith is brilliant. Second what Gaga said re them live- saw them in 21 I think. Underwhelming.

The problem with Republic was that Regret was the only yes only decent tune on it. An album promoted iirc by a 9 date ‘world tour’.
ffs.

As I've just cited...
I think World is also a great track on it
Weirdly it's kind of been eclipsed in their back catalogue by Crystal and the next album now which was years later after an acrimonious split and reluctant get back together

They are the most frustrating live band ever. Often bang average or worse but occasionally sublime….
true faith, temptation, your silent face, ceremony, the perfect kiss, so many good songs…
their last album music complete was the best thing they’ve done since technique…
The squabbling made for some entertaining self serving books….

Saw them in Hyde park, back when mushrooms were still legal. I could see the music...

Music Complete is indeed superb, but I’d forgotten it somehow.
