DO the top sets look at anything other than academic achievements? They all seem to have achieved first / top 5 at Oxbridge etc.
Amazing to have all that intellect fighting over the meaning of a contract. One guy graduated first in the class at Oxford in another subject, completely unrelated to law, then graduated first in the class in his masters and completed a phd before moving to law.

Barristers seem rather like Indian restaurants they all seem to have prizes to the extent you cannot believe so many prizes exist.

When I was at univ there were four prizes every term for those reading law. And there were only 5 in my year.
