Allen & Overy has just confirmed that it will not be merging with US firm O'Melveny & Myers.

This follows possibly the longest courtship in legal history - the firms have been in talks for some two years. Apparently the ultimate sticking point was an inability to agree a valuation that would remain stable over the coming six months.
