Of course every square that normally beavers away in a musty 5th floor room only reachable by stairs in some university is going to enjoy their 5 minutes of fame to try and get some stuff published finally by claiming it's the end of days, especially given that, compared to 17 years ago there are countless "journalists" serving all kinds of shitty publications that need some new take in order to exist.
This is probably the only occasion that calls for a BoJo outburst suggesting people get a grip and get on with stuff. We let 500,000 people a year die of malaria and 1m die from TB but we're all so pathetic we can't have any perspective on what is, even if China is lying massively about cases, bugger all.
China probably executed more people last year than have died from this.

Yes folks he actually said this. Death rates should be compared against those of countries which impose capital punishment for doing, er, whatever they think capital punishment should be used as a sentence from time to time as they see fit.
