The Trusterfvck continues

cheers guys, thanks for that yeah?

‘But a director at one U.S. investment bank said: "The No. 1 issue I hear from clients is that the U.K. is still un-investable because of what happened last year in Westminster, particularly with what happened during Liz Truss' time in office."

US INVESTMENT BANKS ARE FULL OF LEFTISTS!!

THE BLOB! THE BLOB!

Quite.  i feel like going to the next event for the local Conservatives to meet the new candidate and saying, look, I've got [this background], I like shooting things, I work at [the very pointiest end of capitalism]. and even i am considering voting for the other lot, and i can honestly tell you that most of my friends in a similar place think that the whole things been a complete clown show.  and if we're not voting for you, then who the F is?

and don't try scaring me about labours explicit tax rises for my lot, at least they're honest.  you took a load of donations from my industry with dire warnings of tax rises, and then implemented unannounced tax rises for far more than the labour party are threatening.  Oh , and because of brexit we've had to employ a load of people in the EU, so if we do decide to exit to avoid the tax we now can. YOU BUFFOONS.

Clubbers that is literally my view as well - I am not scared of labour anymore - they put me in the additional rate of tax so they could uncapt the life time allowance, their menkle tax cut spree fooked me when it came to remortaging.

I am at the point where i transition from lefty idealism to cynical focus on where my tax money goes and I look at the Tories atm and say - nah not them.

I wouldnt tolerate working for tools like them at work, why would I put them in charge of the country.

My street is full of yuppie city types - sort of centre-liberalish on social concerns, but obviously very capitalist and all in million quid houses and not one of them is voting tory due to the managerial incompetence.

If it was corbyn it would be a much closer call as i would feel genuinely threatened by that, but starmer? Nah its his turn at the wheel.

Wot bbbb said.

My friends and neighbours are natural economic conservatives (with liberal social tendencies) but this lot have lost all of them, with one exception and I think a lot of that is down to him having a contrary streak a mile wide.

By way of example, my constituency had a steady 12/15,000 majority during the Cameron years but the MP is dog food next time around.

I’m surprised he has already announced his retirement to be honest.

what clubbo said on tax tbh

I don’t vote conservative but I thought one of the silver linings of having them in charge was supposed to be low taxes

can’t work out whether the nitrate vulnerable zone debacle is a symptom of the current Conservative Party disfunction - a lot of green torys these days - or does it actually play well with e.g.red wall constituents and ex-labour conservative voters?

the actual issue is minor compared to the elephant in the room of contamination from farming but that’s a different point.

Because, risky, it shows that somebody like Liz Truss can become PM.

SURELY PUTTING AN ECONOMIC GENIUS LIKE LIZ TRUSS IN CHARGE - SOMEONE WHO REALLY TAKE THE INSTITUTE FOR ECONOMIC AFFAIRS OF 55 TUFTON STREET SERIOUSLY - MAKES US MORE INVESTABLE!!

Risky - capital allocation is done with a long term view - Truss trashed confidence in the UK that we were sensible grown ups - the markets reacted - there is no normativity to that and no way to argue around it.

We are still paying the moron premium on governmental debt as we speak, because our risk is priced on our perceived political stability (i.e not great thanks to Truss and the membership geriatrics).

Thats what pisses me off more than anything.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH FINDING A LETTUCE AROUSING: THEY ARE VERY ATTRACTIVE VEGETABLES, ESPECIALLY WHEN ADORNED WITH A BLONDE WIG AND A PAIR OF GOOGLY EYES

not defending her or her budget

I AM!!

I WAS PROUD - PROUD!! - TO SUPPORT HER!!

AND I CHEERED HER BUDGET!!

A MISUNDERSTOOD GENIUS CRUELLY LET DOWN BY THE LEFTIST BOND MARKETS AND THE LEFTIST CURRENCY MARKETS WHO ARE ALL PART OF THE BLOB THAT’S RIGHT THE BLOB IT’S ALL THE BLOB’S FAULT AND CERTAINLY NOT ANYTHING TO DO WITH LIZ TRUSS AND HER TUFTON STREET FRIENDS!!

What Bertha said basically - the worlds largest economy and source of the worlds reserve currency isn’t really as exposed to the vagaries of political risk (although that is being test harshly by the current highly charged atmosphere over there) - it’s much easier to implode a smaller set up like the U.K. with bad governance than the US - over there you really have to try to achieve that and to be fair to them they are having a good shake at it.

A MISUNDERSTOOD GENIUS CRUELLY LET DOWN BY THE LEFTIST BOND MARKETS AND THE LEFTIST CURRENCY MARKETS WHO ARE ALL PART OF THE BLOB THAT’S RIGHT THE BLOB

AND LET'S NOT FORGET - "INTERNATIONAL FINANCE" (WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE)!!!

Truss is a rick and all of her ideas, yes every single one, were pig shit stupid. She believes in supply side economics FGS! LOL. People are declinist because they are correctthinkers unlike you, because britain is in decline, because of your big silly fat brexit. Pls deal.

it all very, very much indeed does seem to have dented the US’ admiration for the UK

just to point out one of the hundreds of ways you’ve already been diametrically wrong since getting out of bed this morning

I hear chat that she thinks her career isn’t over.

I suspect this is true, but I can’t quite work out the level of mental gymnastics required to land this degree of delusion.

In the past we have faced a choice of lower taxes and a declining public realm with the Tories or higher taxes and better public services with Labour.   This government broke the mold by offering higher taxes, decimating public services and trashing the economy all at the same time.  How anyone other than a dyed in the wool ukipper xenophobe would even consider voting for them is genuinely beyond my ken.

Liz Truss completely fvcked things up so badly that even though all of her policies immediately junked her very existence is still putting off investors

and now we have a furiously googled survey of ‘what countries Americans like’. Desperate stuff risky

There’s so little bandwidth in government for urgent stuff that she’s managing to get a platform on the fringe. If they need to, they will nuke her out of existence. Isn’t it conference season now?

But the real point is who wants to confront the fact that someone quite so spectacularly unfit for high office - nb in a decade of TMPM, Shagger, and Work Experience - managed to get into number 10.

How anyone other than a dyed in the wool ukipper xenophobe would even consider voting for them is genuinely beyond my ken.

TRANSSEXUALS!!

TRANSSEXUALS AND CAT PEOPLE!!

TRANSSEXUALS AND CAT PEOPLE AND RWANDA!!

TRANSSEXUALS AND CAT PEOPLE AND RWANDA AND ULEZ!!

Honest to god I have no idea how the Tories have any vote share left. Aren’t the oldies dying off?  Ffs in the same pointy bit of capitalism as Clubbers and exactly the same feelings here. They couldn’t govern their way out of a paper bag. And that’s not even mentioning the clusterfvck that is brexit.

So back to the investment banker. Is he saying the UK is uninvestable because the UK’s political system permitted someone like Liz Truss to become PM and try to give effect to a disastrous budget?

the same political system that booted her out a month later?

Risky, the whole Brexity Tory government is tainted with the reek of incompetence after they kicked out anybody vaguely sensible in an effort to cut the nose of off the face of the country quick smart.  Until the whole lot have been dispatched nobody is going to have any faith in our governance.

The point is Risky as long as this government is in charge people think they could do something as stupid as Truss's mini budget again any minute.  They are dangerous populists, who knows what destructive nonsense they will pull out of the hat prior to the next election?

THE IDEA THAT LIZ TRUSS AND HER WONDERFUL BUDGET DID ANYTHING BUT MAKE THE UK AN EVEN MORE ATTRACTIVE DESTINATION FOR INVESTMENT IS LAUGHABLE!!

BREXIT FOLLOWED BY PM THERESA MAY THEN PM BORIS JOHNSON THEN PM LIZ TRUSS AND NOW PM RISHI SUNAK… WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?!?

but he singled out the mini budget which I thought was weird as it was never given effect

YES VERY STRANGE THAT HE WOULD STILL TAKE IT INTO ACCOUNT I AM COMPLETELY BAFFLED BY THIS

Obviously harm was done at the time but a year later the pound has strengthened against the dollar and capital inflows into the UK are stronger than expected

I don’t see why an event a year ago whose effect was temporary is still being cited as a reason why the UK is uninvestable, that’s all

seems like a banker churning out dated guff

Risky, as I have said because it demonstrates this government cannot be trusted to be sensible.   If you do something really really stupid people will point to that as a reason why they do not trust you even if the impact of  your stupidity has now dissipated.      It is still the fook experts fook business  government by the stupid and rightly foreign investors dont trust them.

I don’t see why an event a year ago whose effect was temporary is still being cited as a reason why the UK is uninvestable

I DON’T UNDERSTAND IT EITHER!!

HOW CAN AN EVENT LOST IN THE MISTS OF TIME OF LAST AUTUMN POSSIBLY HAVE ANY RELEVANCE TO INVESTMENT DECISIONS NOW?!?
