1. It has already gone badly, he has been found liable for fraud directly by the judge due to the weight of evidence against him, thus that part didn't go to trial. The current phase is more about how much he'll have to pay, and this part is a bench trial so it was very very dumb to attack the judge publicly for Faux News soundbites.
2. He can't carry out any further business in NY. A liquidator will be appointed (pending appeals) and all his NY assets will be sold off. It's not clear if this will affect Turnberry / Mar a Lago and other properties owned by the Trump Org.
3. It's a civil case so, no there will be no prison time unless he violates any orders from the bench.
“The trial will determine whether Mr. Trump will pay a significant penalty, as well as any other punishments. Ms. James has asked that he pay $250 million and that he and his sons be permanently barred from running a business in New York.”
$250 Million is what James is looking for, the judge can decide more. They arrived at that amount when his campaign boasted of having raised that amount since 2020 for his "Stop the steal" fund.
the stop the steal fund is not technically campaign money. It was supposed to fund the legal processes for challenging the 2020 election results. But typically Trump, that's not what it was used for.

I think he's appealed and it's been stayed. He's got 7 days to do something or other.
So, if this is civil, what is the penalty and can he pay it?
