Starmer on the Today programme

Finally finding his balls.

making clear he will be telling NIMBYS to fook off to get planning for new housing through.

I really think Starmer is turning things around - my opinion of him has risen considerably in the last couple of days.   He is finally starting to sound like a prime minister in waiting.

He needs to start shifting on our relationship with the EU too. By the time of the election he needs to feel comfortable having a customs union deal in the Lab manifesto. This will be hard and require explaining a reasonably complex situation to people while complete fûckwits like amithemeatshield, Farage and Rex shout lies in their ears about treachery and forced baguetting.

He absolutely does not need to do that Royalty. He already has about 80% of the remain vote.  He just needs to ensure the manifesto doesn’t say anything that will stop him rejoining the customs union.

Relaxing planning permission wont suddenly make hiuse building profitable again.

He'll still have to confront falling house prices and monstrously expensive mortgages.

House building is still profitable and can be profitable even at rather lower prices if you encourage developers to stop building £800k executive boxes.  It would just be a bit less profitable.  The issue is providing the cashflow for developers when lenders don't want to lend.

It's all great in theory but there are also plenty of shire dwelling nimby Labour voters whose MP's will no doubt feel compelled to vote against this.

he's realised that there is no downside for labour in ramming housing through where tories live

ironically if the tories had realised the same they could have built housing more useful than the stuff labour will focus on - primarily in cities

instead they capitulated to mps holding london marginals and allowed theresa villiers and iain duncan-smith to dictate their entire suicidal housing policy

heh!

labour's version of gerrymandering "let's let thousands of people buy their first home in a tory safe seat and flip it for the next 40 years!"

Kier promises to build desolate red brick towns.... He needs to sort illegal immigration or it is just tax revenue being burned

Secondly he needs to sort UK energy

He will do neither and it is why he will not make it to office

labour's version of gerrymandering "let's let thousands of people buy their first home in a tory safe seat and flip it for the next 40 years!"

pretty much. if labour can deliver four bedrooms and a dog to millennials they will be in power for the next 30 years.

That's fine though as I don't want to feed anything into the grid.  I just want to be allowed to install my own provision without a seven month battle about whether the operation of solar panels will create noise disturbance for the newts in the ancient woodland.

Heh, one of the reasons that Sadiq has got nowhere near his election pledges for new homes in London is the opposition a lot of the time from nimby Labour Councils in London - "it'll spoil the character of the area etc". It is not just the tozzas.

yes, hence why labour are pledging to build new towns in tozza constituencies.

and the tozzas are morons for not ramming through hundreds of thousands of new homes in cities, where the only cost would be annoying labour councils

I might be wrong, Guy, because there are a lot of intelligent people with no sense of foresight, such as yourself.  The lefties are getting giddy over a leader that lists problems but is unable to articulate how these problems could be resolved in any practical way.  And his major announcement is house building.  If he wants to solve housing he should look first at demand (illegal immigration), then cost (inflation) rather than supply

If he wants to solve housing he should look first at demand (illegal immigration)

illegal immigration is a drop in the ocean in comparison to legal immigration, which the tories have been more than happy with

he should look first at demand (illegal immigration)

Is there a source proving that illegal immigration is a significant factor in the housing market, other than 'the diseased mind of piechucker from the internet'?

Not sure how they affect the housing market when they're kept in concentration camps but let's just say we gave them all a dwelling along with their sky tv and mobile phones ans starbuckses... we could house them all with a single year's housebuilding?  And we shouldn't build more houses because of this?

The number of asylum seekers awaiting decision are mas o menos equal to the number of new dwellings completed in 2022

are asylum seekers awaiting decision big participants in the housing market, you utter clown?

it’s instructive though isn’t it

rather than admit that if immigration is indeed the cause of the problems with the housing market, the Tories must take responsibility as the party of government, the play is to shift blame onto “illegals” and “asylum seekers”

only a true dolt could fall for this stuff

Memoirs of Chimp

That video of Lee Anderson on the beach of Littlehampton covered in tents and migrants was an absolute disgrace.  If only they were furnished with an apartment that removes supply from the working class, maybe I could have my boots polished and truss adjusted rather easier

MAKE MADGE MEGA MEGA MAKE MADGE META MASSIVE

What Donny said on european matters. Everyone knows that with a twenty year madge guaranteed, we will rejoin under LAB. No need to say it.

IF YOU WANT A N****R FOR A NEIGHBOUR VOTE LABOUR!!
