I have just come from wheeling Mum around the houses near her care home, all lovely gardens. Most of the lawn areas are as you say in perfect nick but two still resolutely bare. I suppose the grass has died :(

i also noticed on the way there, masses of cowslips in flower on the verges. In late September!!?

My garden thinks it is spring too. Irises coming up. Lavender in flower again.

Yep, a few things re-flowering and re-growing here too - Choisya, perennial sweet pea.

Rozanne Geraniums, which were really poor in July and August, are suddenly flowering with relish.

I dont want irises wasting energy trying to flower again now when they wont succeed anyway. But maybe the hot summer actually allowed them to store extra energy, who knows.
