Morning all. Two dinners upcoming in Edinburgh (either side of a trip on The Royal Scotsman). Have already booked the Witchery; reccos for another restaurant would be appreciated!
cockpit, there's a lot to like in Edinburgh for restaurants. We like Aizle (southside) and the Wee Restaurant. Timberyard has tapped into the Scandi thing which is quite different. For tourists enjoying a view, Cannonball has a cracking view of the castle. Ondine has a rather wonderful fish focus. 21212 is very similar to the Witchery and v good. Scran and Scallie can be super for a gastropub if Mr Jack is in.
We tend only to be in Edinburgh about 10 nights per year and it's always a joy to find there's somewhere new to try.
I went to a great restaurant in Edinburgh. It serves fish. Cannot recall the name tho, so ask for the fish place. This was 2003 so may not still be there.
There used to be a subreddit dealing with Edinburgh food but I think it died due to the number of posts by this one lad trolling it by reviewing kebabs
Fishers or Ondine for Seafood (RIP Olorosso - now a Chaopraya). Kyloe for steak (or Hawksmoor). Wedgewood or Timberyard for generally nice food. Wisharts or the Kitchin if you want Michelin starred.

Any particular type of food?
Noto, Azile, Chop house all good.
I quite like Lookout (by the Gardeners Cottage people), but know others that have found it mixed.

Thanks all, will check those places out.
Azile is in our second hotel (which is where we’re staying the evening we’re going to the Witchery!).

We ended up in the Copper Still. Was perfect for what we needed.

Copper Still very good. Decent pub grub and a nice atmosphere (but the kitchen closed at 8.30).
