redactle

Is there a thread on this?

Random Wikipedia article with words redacted.  Comes with global comparators and bragging rights.  Yesterday was Frédéric Chopin. Today's is ... harder.

Another disaster- 259, ended up guessing it by firing vaguely related words at it and learning two of them fitted together. Learned a bit but doing worse by the day.  Impressed by 144.

I would have been able to get it a lot sooner, but my 5th guess was "mathematics" which bizarrely didn't appear in the entire article, so I spent the next 10 guesses on wild goose chases.

I solved today's Redactle (#21) in 33 guesses with an accuracy of 24.24%.

My worst so far. I was convinced this was a geography one based on the way the introductory paragraph was worded, so basically got nothing right up until guess 25.

This one was really, really annoying.

Very chuffed very early on that I got the second word of the title, but then made the mistake of assuming that it meant the strict use of that word (which obviously excludes the first word of the title…)

Spent ages going down medieval and theological cul de sacs…

Also found this one had lots of limbs.

Can't share my results as it seems to have reset to tomorrow's already, but I was about 100 guesses with 30% accuracy many of which were based around ancient history / mythology etc.

Get a century, a continent and the second word and the first shouldn't be too hard.

Also be aware that first word of title is in larger font than second (on my phone anyway) so looks longer relative to first than it is.

Congratulations, you solved Redactle #26!

Are they getting harder?  Or am I not taking them so seriously?

Did in 9 today. Got a helpful word though. Some of those past ones have almost made me give up though. Sometimes I don’t know anything about the topic at all. Not as cultured as some of you folk!

159 guesses 37.74% accuracy

but i have 2 confess that once i had established the main sub-category i then had 2 google search 4 a list of possibilities and got it from there. never would have managed it otherwise

Yesterdays was a nightmare, we were on last day of hols but ended up after lunch both of us (mr m with his medical background and science a levels etc) took fooking ages. First guess was the word in brackets, that much seemed obvious. 150 guesses later..

First go
