It’s a needless vanity project that talks to sustainability but almost certainly will be massively polluting in its construction.
 

These mega vanity projects do well in a global downturn when attention turns to them but as soon as the world economy picks up, they’ll struggle as attention focuses back on the realistic / tries and tested 

The problem with these kind of projects is that when things get out of hand(s) some people can also quickly lose their heads...

Given its just publicity nonsense and no-one is actually going to build the thing, doing a prototype would obviously be an unneccesary waste.

I thought this project looks pretty cool, shame it’s going to be in saudi so I’ll prob never see it and the craft beer scene will be shit.

From what I’ve seen it’s basically a modernist gated community. Not sure who will want to live in it. Maybe the super yacht Arabs will visit the marina bit.

planned to be 100 miles long or something like that but carless - with 1m residents within 6 years. This is like so many other projects in the ME that got announced in 2006 and were started and then indefinietly stalled - see as an example
