It’s all pretty good tbh - one of the few shows that held its own consistently over a number of series. That said, the series with Thandie Newton in was notably the weakest; it did suffer from following right on the heels of the one with Kelley Hawes as the utterly mesmeric Lynsey Denton, which was sublime. The bit where she lures Fleming into a trip, punches her in the guts and snarls “people have been underestimating me my whole life. Don’t make that mistake”. Hot as hell, in more ways than one.
Steely Keeley acted the rest of them off the screen, and it’s a proper box set binge if ever there was. But overall it’s jumped the shark. I can’t bear Vicky McClure.
It disappeared up its own arse a while ago. The episode where they figured out someone was spelling something out by morse code in a certain way and what that meant was ridiculous.
She’s a fucking useless actress. She’s not acting in this or this is England to any actual extent. But tellingly she’s been exactly the same in everything else I’ve seen her in. Sorry not sorry.

The Newton character’s husband, the weak-willed corporate lawyer, reminded me massively of a guy I used to work with.
