The latest Bob Moran cartoon

Horrific or legitimate criticism?

I am as u know 100% team Israel (it ain't an easy situation but if you have to pick a side they are the side I pick) but the cartoon strikes me as a criticism of netanyahu and his assertion that he's acting on behalf of all Jewish people rather than a blood lovely situation

But then it does include some arguably blood libel imagery

But then is that part of the point being made? A layering of dehumanising concepts to illustrate their collective wrongness?

(Yes it is fair to analyse them in the context of Bob's wider world view, I think)

No, one "side" is being ethnically cleansed of its civilian population.  Those civilians are the real "side" opposing Israel, and that side isn't "against" you personally, even if the terrorist group holding it captive is.  

 

The religious extremists in control of the other side would be "against" you if you were unfortunate enough to be born among their number too, remember.

It was at Rham.  On the OP. The cartoon is just unacceptable frankly. There is no reason to use that imagery to make the point and it is just massively counter productive to do so. 

It's fooking abhorrent.

He defended it on the basis that its not a Jew eating a baby blood libel trope because he no longer considers Netanyahu to be a Jew.

Also there is a swastika in the bottom left hand corner.

 

I hope that there is way to do a cartoon involving a sense of horror at the slaughter of innocents that doesn’t rely on anti semitic tropes

Seriously though, if the horrified have to rely upon the indifferent to agree what is and isn’t acceptable imagery for protest then the indifferent deny their opponents right to have a voice and the horrified find other outlets or just start hating the indifferent

you don't have to pick a side, they can both be wrong

and the sides are team "netanyahu tries to save his grifting gig" or team "we hide in qatar with boatloads of iranian money while sending brainwashed kids to their deaths and throwing our whole people under a bus"

team israel and team palestine are the innocent people caught up in this who get crushed in the gears of fat old fcuks trying to stay rich, same as it ever was

the odd thing about that is it overlooks the treatment of hasidic women which is amongst the worst in the world in terms of oppression

i have picked a side and my side is innocent civilians, whether israeli, palestinian, coptic or ne other denomination. 4 me, that means hamas must b destroyed but not in the way netanyahu and his cronies r doing it or with the outcome they want

I guess you forgive Bob Moran's view that verbally absuing women online is prefectly acceptable (even the Torygraph drew the line on that) so long as he keeps pumping out cartoons about how bad vaccines are and how lockdown was some sort of war crime

It was hard to pick Clergs' most ridiculous comment on this thread. "I am as u know 100% team Israel" was an obvious choice but then it descended into the Inception of stupidity when that position was explained with this gem. 

One side crashed a giant plane on my country, the other manufactures a load of useful products I enjoy day to day

 

Aside from the fact that al-Megrahi (a Libyan national) was convicted by a Court at a trial (you know, that process that we're supposed to uphold and respect), and that Libya - after denying it for years - then accepted responsibility, there's only one credible alternative theory that it was Iran behind the bombing as a retaliatory act for the shooting down of Iran Air Flight 655. But no, that's not correct either.  It was the Palestinians. And now the 30,000 who have died since 7 October (most of whom were not alive in 1988) have got what they deserve. 

But wait! There's another level of stupidity because what also needs to be factored into her assessment of who are the goodies and baddies here is; who makes stuff I like.  Presumably we should all be 100% team PROC. Maybe it was the Uyghurs who are responsible for 9/11?
