She's the one they wheel out for Older People's Issues because she set up the Silverline (like Childline for crusties). Maybe you should call Silverline and complain....?
TBF while I agree that men (including RoFers) sometimes choose lamentable language when talking about women, I don’t think saying someone is fit qualifies for the sin-bin.
Everyone always acts like Savile’s contemporaries must have known, but is that really true? I mean, people giggle and nudge, he looks like a bit of a wong’un, eh?, but it’s all just whispers. Unless he actually molested a kid in front of someone, what was there to report? Hello police? There’s this guy I work with who seems a bit creepy, can you maybe bang him up? What? What business am I in? Television mate.
Meant to say "round for lunch once a month". If I'd meant once once a week, I'd have said "every week". I mean, you wouldn't have someone round for Sunday lunch twice a week would you. Well maybe monty.
At times like this we must remember William Donaldson, who wrote to her as Henry Root saying something slyly clever and got a letter back saying that hearing from viewers such as him made it all worthwhile or suchlike. So he sent another one saying dear Esther you're a fat bitch and your show's a disgrace, and got the same letter back. A model for us all.
Never actually been fat tho has she? Pretty well known that she shagged her way into broadcasting but aside from being a bit of a toothy cow I don’t think she really caused any harm as such.
Rantzen is of that generation that made a very nice living indeed from the telly out of others’ stupidity and venality. Nobody batted an eyelid at the amount of taxpayers coin she and her ilk carried off year after year. The end result is she gets to come back and haunt us whenever she likes. Grimmers.

She was rattling on on BBC breakfast about old people's TV licences this morning.
The post prompted by the specific incident Shooty but the loathing is general.

Her niece is hot
For FUX sake. Really?! REALLY? The hotness of someone she's vaguely related to gives Esther some sort of credence to you does it?
Ffs.

Yep, she set up Childline and kept quiet about the rumours about Jimmy Savile.
Then she set up Silverline. She probably had Harold Shipman round for Sunday lunch once a week.

stardust why do you go nuts any time anyone says anyone is hot?

I don't, Laz. I just get irritated with the way men (Roffers) speak about women generally.

How is what he said relevant to the conversation being had, Laz?

It’s not, but I don’t think irrelevance is to be confused with offensiveness.

It was just a passing comment, with a connection to the person being discussed.

As I hovered over the thread title, I never expected to read that sentence. Always good to be surprised. Agreed, though obv.

I am allowed to be irritated on whatever terms I see fit, kids. How do you know his comment isn't going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back?

You are entitled to be irritated, but we’re entitled to say that we don’t really understand what’s irritating you. That’s all.

You are entitled to be irritated, but it exposes you to the danger of looking like an absolute plum.

I suppose you speak from experience, Dux.

Well I may well have ample experience of looking like a plum, but I don't, as a rule, get irritated over trifles.

One person's trifle is another person's croquembouche.
Anyway, back to the OP. Esther R. Evil for not dobbing in Savile or saint for saving the lives of many kids by setting up a charideee?
