I once attended a teenage party where one of the girls present claimed to have got upduffed, but was too spaced out to remember whodunnit. All the guys present at the party were drawn into the mystery as possible the guilty party (including me, even though I had never even met the girl in question!).
At school there was a girl who kept getting poison pen letters once she asked to move from a boarding house to another. The police were called in to talk to everyone. Many suspects and then it was agreed that she was attention seeking and sent them to herself!
