Lol I thought it sounded a bit expensive clergs. Glad you agreed. Do you think too pricey? Or would have a good time regardless? I'm guessing as its a last minute thing prices Jacked up.
You should be able to get a nice 2 bed mews cottage or apartment in New Town for approx £170 per night, and return EasyJet or LNER tickets for about £150 return each.
Slightly embarrassing but it was so pricey as I was getting quotes for 2 travellers when it was a solo trip. Actual price was just a third so I booked!
Any recommendations on what to do? I have most of next Friday free?
If it were me, a free Friday in Edinburgh would include browsing McNaughten's second hand book shop, cross the road to Valvona and Crolla for lunch or coffee, walk down Dundas Street and look at insanely but amusingly overpriced clothes in Epitome. Great town to walk around. Tastes differ but I stay north of Princes Street.
If pleasant enough weather, I'd start with a walk up Calton Hill - it's a great place for sunrise and the light should be good enough to go up prior to actual sunrise.
And I like certain of the suggestions of the economist above McNaughten's then Valvona. National museums are pretty good too - there's a Mary Stuart on. A pity you will miss the new Silver Casket just acquired for 1.5m. And the new contemporary Japanese design exhibition which opens on the 6th if you are still up.
There is also an Edinburgh eatery thread in the past couple of weeks which may be of interest.
Lastly, you may want to pop into the Scots Guards Club on Clifton Terrace for lunch or a drink. If you give them a call, I believe you don't have to be a member.

You're probably right Marshall but I suppose when I fly I want to go via Heathrow which tbf may explain price. Ah well. Next year!

£1500 could get you three months’ rent. Bloody hell.

You wouldn't even get two thirds of the way to Japan with only 1500

Wear a Tam O'Shanter and shout "Och aye" at random strangers, while telling them about your great-great-grandmother who was born in Argyll.
The locals will love you.
