Bringing up a child in London

Personally think this is akin to child abuse, assuming state school. Am I really just a prejudiced twot?

There’s an argument to be made, especially considering the pollution issues.  Not sure about why you specified a state school but imagine all schools and streets are a concern re: stubby was.

Also multiple languages being spoken, gangs, disruptive kids with crap parenting. All the reasons most Londoners I know seem to choose private school, presumably.

Woosh.  I don’t really do much television so that one slipped right by me without revealing anything!

Anyway, there was a study just last year that revealed pollution was affecting the lung development of schoolchildren in London.  Certainly worth a quick google because it would give me cause for concern.

Children in London:-

(a) Depends where.  Dulwich is not Peckham.

(b) For teens, stabby problems.

(c) For teens, druggy problems.

(d) For all, noise issues and associated mental health dangers.

(e) For all, air pollution issues and associated health and developmental problems.

(f) For all, hard to get exercise and very overcrowded.   This is a really important issue.

(g) Culturally, London is VERY much a big city with big city problems.   The rest of the U.K. is different.

(h) Culturally, London is quite American / international.  Depends if you want your children to be Brits I suppose but it won’t happen if they grow up in London.

(I) Do you like seeing trees?  Hard in London.

(j) MPs - many of these ignorant, incompetent tosspots livenin London.  Do you really want your children associating with them or their children?

(k) Different religions.  Londoners mainly worship football and booze but there are various novel cults around, ranging from the Moonies to some strange people called the Church of England.  Do you really want to take the risk?

(l) law firms.  Many law firm partners live in London.  Again, it’s hard to see the social advantages of dealing with over-focussed, Miney-obsessed psychopaths and their families.

I am sure there will be more factors, but if you have the choice, Central London has many disadvantages for children over six or seven and the health and mental health risks are there for everybody.

LOL.

After school this week I've taken my daughter to the science museum (she's learning about the solar system), one of the best swimming pools in Europe and that bit in regents park where you see the giraffes and zebras for free (on the way to the cinema).

It's fooking great.
