There are few japes within (porter scene aside), but the central theme is a previously well-liked and loyal servant going bad (driven by ambition, witches, wife, madness etc).
You can play him strong, weak, sane, mad, credulous, manipulative.
The sarky brittleness Tenant brought to Hamlet could make a very interesting MacBeth

Tennant was good as a quirky Hamlet, but I do not really see him being suited to the dour humorless Macbeth apart from the fact he is scottish...

its not a play known for its jolly japes Cam, there is not the same scope for playfulness and humour as offered in Hamlet.
