It emerged this week that 90% of the senior lawyers in BLP's Real Estate Finance team are male - whilst 100% of the juniors are female.

The team is made up of ten senior lawyers (including partners, consultants, directors and Grand Poobahs), nine of whom are male. Meanwhile, all the 14 associates are female. Sexual equality our orange arse. A spokesman for BLP claimed that there is a much better ratio across the firm as a whole: which seems a little unlikely given that whilst 60% of lawyers at the firm are women, they make up only 21% of the partnership.

Meanwhile, Macfarlanes has come in for criticism for its whiter than white partnership. Not a single one of the 60 or so partners at the firm has the slightest hint of what Silvio Berlusconi might refer to as a "suntan". The firm failed to return repeated calls for comment.

Law firms have made a big play about the importance of diversity over recent years, but there are concerns that this has now been put on the back burner as partners focus on trying to get the cash in. To keep the pressure up, click on the button below to send in other examples.
